The Theory Test: There are fifty questions and to pass you must get a minimum of 43 correct.
At Ezy-Pass we like to incorporate most subjects covered in the theory test into the practical training sessions. We feel this helps the learner to understand how to apply the rules of the road and encourages safe attitudes. We can also offer extra tuition, as required.
Hazard Perception Testing: This part of the theory test consists of film-clips shown on a computer screen. Candidates click on the screen with a mouse as soon as they recognise the hazard. The pass mark for the car and motorcycle hazard perception part of the theory test is 44 out of 75.
CD ROMs are available for the theory test and Hazard Perception testing. These are invaluable preparation tools for both tests. Ezy-Pass will recommend the most effective learning tools available.
The Practical or ‘L’ Test: This is designed for the candidate to demonstrate that they have reached the level of competence required to become a qualified driver. This is often a stressful thought, but it’s worth remembering that a good instructor will advise you to apply when you both feel that you have reached a consistent level of driving.
Booking the test can then be done on the basis that steady progress will continue to be maintained so that a suitable standard will be reached. We also like to do a realistic "mock" test to aid preparation. For this we work with another instructor so as to give a feel for the real test conditions. We feel this gives you an insight into what will happen during your test and can help you to be properly prepared. Knowing what to expect will help to allay those “test nerves.”
Show me Tell me Questions: The 'Show Me Tell Me' questions require you to explain to your driving test examiner where and how to check tyres, brakes, fluid levels, lights, direction indicators and horn.
You will be asked two questions, one 'show me' and one 'tell me' question. One or both questions answered incorrectly will result in one driving fault being recorded.
The Pass-Plus is a training scheme for new drivers. It is specially designed by the Drivers Standard Agency (DSA) to help you gain valuable experience of motorways, defensive driving, extreme weather conditions and much more. It is a minimum of 6 hours and there is no test. Newly qualified drivers with a Pass-Plus certificate can be eligible for cheaper car insurance.
